South Park is an American animated sitcom which debuted in 1997. It was created for mature audiences. It was created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone for the Comedy Central Television Network. I think it purpose is to make people laugh in a different way, because usually people who aren't familiar with it might assume it is for a young audience until they hear the dialog ...South Park was originally animated using cut out bits of paper for it Pilot episode, and once it was picked up and continued it was digital animation from then on! I think its quite contradictory to watch because it doesn't really follow a lot of the 12 principles of animation. For example the Arcs of the characters aren't very realistic. Normally character appeal would be brought about through the character's personality or image but some could argue that there are certain characters in this that have neither. This is where the comedy element plays a huge part because that is what makes the characters and show appealing as a whole.
