Final Evaluation

I have found this module really enjoyable because I have gained experience with several different animation processes. I think one of the most successful areas for me was creating Flip Books, because even though it is seen as such a simple technique, it really wasn't at first for me so I wanted to keep experimenting and playing around with it. Another area in which I think I did well considering it was my first time was using Pose to Pose animation. Creating the swinging pendulum was a task which enabled me to understand how the process works so I then felt like I could move on and get more creative, which is when I created my "BatCat" I found the Storyboarding process to be really interesting because became familiar with different things to take into consideration such as the "Rule of three", different shot angles and the "12 Principles of Animation" This was all vital because I now try and consider all of these things when creating a Storyboard which will then go on to become an animation.

There are some areas which I do think I could improve in during the future. For example, my Pixilation animation could have been better in my opinion. I think the reason for this is, certain shots were not properly in focus which I didn't notice until I uploaded all frames onto the computer. This is something I will need to try and look out for earlier in the future in order to stop it looking inconsistent. There were some areas which I found myself getting slightly frustrated with, such as the Photoshop and Photography induction, because I was quite inexperienced with these and I'm the type of person who doesn't like not understanding things. However after a while all was good! I have really enjoyed becoming familiar with new software because I know that this is something I will need to use frequently during this course and once I understand how to use somethings its pretty hard to get me off it!

I have also come across a lot of other work during this module which I have found really intriguing to look at. It has been interesting to look at what other animators have produced and the processes they have used. Even looking at the work of those on the course with me has been really useful because we have been able to share ideas and gain feedback, which has influenced me further. For example whilst we were shooting my Pixilation, some ideas I had were changed slightly because we decided as a group that something else may look better. After this module I feel that one of the areas I would like to develop in further is frame by frame animation, because I like being able to go back and see the frame before hand so I can see if I am on track. Overall I have loved this module because it has introduced me to all these different areas of animation which I didn't know a lot about, and allowed me to experiment and see what might work for me the best over these next three years.
