Further Character Development

After producing some wolf sketches, I also needed to crack on with creating some potential designs for the Robin and Boar. Luckily, Emma and I had both carried out some research for inspiration, so we were able to bat ideas back and forwards to one another, which would then allow me to produce some drawings.

With this robin design, there were few characteristics that needed to be kept in mind:
  • This is to be a very small character, so therefore needs to be distinctive and likeable even with the very small amount of space she takes up.
  • This character will be holding a microphone for the whole documentary, so the wings would need to be designed in a way that would allow her to hold something.

After sketching and doodling, I pinned down a few final designs which were then forwarded to Emma for feedback. I made sure that each design was appropriate for the role, but it was down to Emma and I to settle on a final one!

After getting an idea of the kind of boar design to go for, I got to it. I knew that after producing some sketches, it would then be easier to create some final designs. Before this I had very little experience with drawing animals, so I needed to spend some time getting an idea of how and boar look and how they position themselves.

Whilst producing these sketches, I wanted to incorporate enough appeal so that the audience would understand that this isn't supposed to be a threatening character.
